Michael Garrick, Shake Keane and Hastings Girl Choir – Rising Star is one of those records that reminds you how amazingly emotional some music can be. Uplifting music at its best. This has been giving me chills since the first time I heard it on Dom Servini’s Unherd radio show.

Last Dance London’s first release as a record label, Post Annum EP, follows on in the path of their radio show on NTS, showcasing forward thinking music from the leftside of things.

Its features up and coming talents from across the globe, but starts with the Brighton based producer Vekta, and his track Sunlight. A dark crunchy bass tune brought from the darkness of the bass, and hats to the light side with the oriental sounding acoustic guitar.

Everything Nicolas Jaar touches turns to gold, and this latest offering, Darkside is no different.  A collaboration between Jaar, and Dave Harrington, the guitarist from Jaar’s live band,  released on Jaar’s Clown & Sunset label.

A a stunning piece of music. Something to get swallowed up in, an absorptive EP of tracks that all group together to trap you in the echoey vocals, plucky bluesy guitars, and a pulsating enthralling beat.

DARKSIDE – DARKSIDE EP by Clown & Sunset

Dublin producer Shatter Freak has been prolific the last while [check out sunday commute if you havent]. “Crisis of Consequence” is his latest offering and “night music” has been the genre given to this track. There is certainly something introspective, dark and absorbing in the beats, something representative of the night. It has the feeling of being on the verge of breaking free. There is a repetitive ambient sound barely audible under the stabbing beat that gives this track an extra air, a deeper feeling.

been quite a while since i’ve been posting here. long story behind that to be honest but i’m back now and hoping to keep posting again more regularly. i miss the discovery of music (new and old) and the sharing of sounds that move me.

this track caught my ear this evening. my good lady is watching x-factor so on go the headphones and exploring we will go. saw that laid back had favorited this tune and of course I had to check it out.
out soon on the excellent mpm label Aischa Traidia‘s beautiful and dreamy ‘city life’ is somewhat poppy with soothing vocals and lazy beats. as i prepare to move from living in the center of my city of dublin to get more living space as ellie grows older this tune reminds me of many of the things that i have grown to love as part of my life living here.
